Harvesting Potatoes in Essex – July 2015

Fairfields Farm Crisps produce award winning crisps, hand cooked and 100% natural with locally sourced ingredients.  The farm is run by husband and wife team, Robert and Laura Strathern.  They grow potatoes in the Colne Valley on a variety of soil types from sandy loam to heavier clay loam.  Their crisps were the winners of the 2014 Great Taste Awards.

Although they are third generation farmers, they pride themselves on keeping abreast with new innovations in farming technology and during 2015 they bought and used our unique one-pass Tillerstar to plant 100 plus acres of crisping variety potatoes.
